Brooke Davis’ CNC-tooled Tablescape No. 1
Wow. Did you pick your jaw up off the floor yet? Designer Brooke Davis has created a piece of furniture that’s not only stunning, it’s a giant leap into the future of using technology in beautiful ways. Using CNC routers to create furniture is nothing new, but the way she uses it here — carefully, slowly, with intent — creates an outcome that is stunning and organic and that kind of looks like a topographical map, or even something living.
Taking nearly three months and 100 hours (much of that hand sanding to remove every tool mark), this is truly a piece of art! And because of the nature of this project and the tools used, she could make this design out of other materials, like Corian. Austin-based and the owner of an awesome teaching studio/workshop/design-on-demand studio called make+shift, you can see this table and more of her work at ICFF next month. See more beautiful photos of this table on Brooke Davis’ online portfolio.
